The United States of America recorded a notable boost in both values and volumes in its swimwear imports during the first quarter of 2018 that ended on 31st March.
According to the released data by OTEXA and analysed by Apparel Resources, against US $ 418.44 million swimwear import in the first quarter of 2017, the values rose to US $ 465.44 million in the same period this year, marking a significant rise of 11.11 per cent.
Volume-wise, the country imported 16.58 million kg of swimwear as against 15.10 million kg of swimwear in the corresponding period last year, noting a surge of 9.78 per cent.
China, Vietnam and Indonesia were the top 3 countries in supplying swimwear to the USA during the mentioned period. China remained the dominant force with swimwear shipment worth US $ 235.17 million (up 10.78 per cent) to the USA which was 50.52 per cent of overall swimwear imports by the country.
Vietnam too escalated strongly as it exported swimwear to the USA worth US $ 76.85 million (up 22.90%) as compared with US $ 62.53 million in the same period last year.
Indonesia, third in the tally, however, fell in its overall apparel exports to the USA by 5.78 per cent but, as far as swimwear export is concerned, the country upped its shipment by 11.50 per cent on the yearly note. During the first quarter, Indonesia shipped swimwear to the USA worth US $ 48.64 million.
