South Carolina (US)-based Delta Apparel has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2018. Delta Apparel is an international design, marketing, manufacturing, and sourcing company that features a diverse portfolio of lifestyle basic and branded activewear apparel, headwear and related accessories.
The apparel manufacturer reported an increase of US $ 14.4 million, or a 19 per cent increase in net sales to US $ 90.3 million from US $ 75.9 million during the same quarter last fiscal. Overall, it reported a double-digit growth in each of its businesses. It also reported significant improvement in its gross margin as compared to the prior year period.
During the reporting quarter, Delta Apparel’s gross margin reported a 37.2 per cent increase as compared to 31.1 per cent in the same period of last fiscal. Its operating profit increased by whopping 271 per cent to US $ 1.7 million from US $ 0.5 million in the corresponding period of last year.
The quarter under review also turned out to be a fruitful one for the company’s basics segment which reported a 20 per cent increase in business to US $ 73.2 million from US $ 60.8 million in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2017. Active wear sales also noted a 20 per cent increase in its sales.
