Dollar General honoured for its support of US Armed Forces

American chain of variety stores Dollar General Corporation will soon become the first ever recipient of President’s Veterans Recognition Award by Coca-Cola.

The retailer will receive the honour at an event to be organised at its world headquarters in Atlanta on November 10, 2017.

Dollar General will be recognized for its work for the military and veteran communities.

Under the initiative launched by Dollar General, veterans, active military personnel and their families get exclusive discounts at the retailer’s stores.

The company also initiated a move to ensure a smooth transition of service members to a civilian life by creating employment opportunities. It also a Paychecks for Patriots programme, which supports the service members.

Earlier in May this year, Dollar General teamed up with Coca-Cola on a new Share a CokePatriotic Can series honouring service members and their families.

The retailer is grateful to Coca-Cola for supporting its endeavour in appreciating and serving those who served and continue to serve the country, said Larry Gatta, Dollar General’s Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager.
