US-based Ascena Retail Group, a leading national speciality retailer offering apparels, shoes and accessories for women, has announced the appointment of Erin Stern as the new President of Dressbarn. Stern is known for her skills and her passion for product, brand and customer care.
“Stern’s branding and merchandising capabilities will complement Ascena’s current leadership team. It is good to promote from within,” said Gary Muto, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascena Brands, while commenting on Erin’s appointment to the post.
Stern seems equally excited to work alongside the talented team. She complimented that with the combination of the brand’s strong history along with its niche in the market, it made a unique and meaningful position in its role in the customers’ lives.
Before being named as President of Dressbarn, Stern served as Executive Vice President & Chief Merchandising Officer at Maurices, which is also owned by Ascena. She is also known for her long association with fashion company GAP Inc. in senior leadership roles. She has served as Chief Merchant for Juicy Couture and as President of Bebe Sport as well in the past.
Stern’s appointment has come at a time when the New Jersey-based Group, which also own speciality apparel chains such as Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant, is facing challenges in store-sales. It remains to be seen what new Stern will bring to Dressbarn and take it to new heights.
Pertinent to mention here that Ascena Retail Group operates these aforementioned brands in the premium, value and plus-size fashion segments. It serves in kids fashion as well. The company has approximately 4,700 stores across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.
