Nordstrom Inc., one of the leading fashion companies in the United States, has announced the retirement of its President Karen McKibbin, who will leave the company in March this year. She has been with the company since 1985.
The retiring President is known for her role in the very first international expansion of Nordstrom’s full-line stores in Canada. Over the years, McKibbin played different roles as President of Canada, President of Nordstrom Rack, and a member of the Executive Team to lead the company on various fronts.
“The company is indebted to McKibbin. Her retirement will create a vacuum and leadership will be remembered,” expressed Blake Nordstrom, Co-President, Nordstrom.
Further, McKibbin termed Nordstrom as an incredible brand which will continue to evolve. Her retirement has come when the fashion retailer is gearing to open its flagship store in New York City.
The fashion retailer has now announced Geevy Thomas, who is currently serving as the Chief Innovation Officer as her successor. He too has been associated with Nordstrom from the past 30-plus years. Thomas was the President of Nordstrom Rack from 2010 to January 2017.
“Over the last year, Thomas and the innovation team have established an approach to leveraging our local assets of people, product, and place – and evolve our physical stores. We’re fortunate to be able to leverage his knowledge of our Nordstrom Rack business, which continues to be one of our most productive channels, ” Blake said.
